This institution was established to perpetuate the enduring memory of Sree Narayana Guru, a great Saint, Philosopher and Social Reformer who was also a great poet and an erudite scholar of the Vedas. He preached and practiced the gospel of ‘Universal Brotherhood’ as embodied in his maxim ‘One caste one Religion, one God for man’. He advised the downâ€"trodden to gain education to achieve liberation from superstition and the shackles of oppression at the hands of the caste despots during that time. Inspired by the Guru’s teachings, the followers of Sree Narayana at Chetrappinni formed a Public Charitable Trust in 1977, which established the S.N.Vidya Bhavan in July 1978 with LKG and UKG classes, initially.

The sole aim of establishing S.N.Vidya Bhavan is to provide quality education and academic and professional competence to the children of the backward coastal area of Chetrappinni, who cannot afford to even dream of education in the English medium, which was a privilege available only to the children belonging to the higher strata of society.  Our only aim is to prepare rural children of the poor and the middle classes and equipping them to successfully take on the All – India Competitive Examinations and other Talent Tests.  Besides academic excellence, physical and health education is given due importance, and facilities for physical training, games, sports, athletics etc. are also provided in the campus.  Today we feel proud to be recognized as one of the best and leading CBSE schools not only in Kerala but also internationally.

The School is run by a Public Charitable Trust called the ‘Sree Narayana Educational and Cultural Trust (Regd.) Chentrappinni’, which is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 as well as under section 12A of the Income Tax 1961.  The Board of Management is the Executive Committee of the Trust which is duly elected at the Annual General Body for a tenure of three years.

The student strength of the school has been shooting up over the years exponentially.  We have six sections of LKG and six sections of UKG comprising more than 600 students.  Our school has 74 sections from Std I to XII with more than 3500 students.

The academic year of the School starts on June 1st and ends on March 31st each year.

The Medium of instruction is English.  Malayalam or Hindi can be opted as the Second or Third Language.  Hindi is taught compulsorily either as a Second Language or Third Language.
